Tools like Batch Rename can also manage the regex replacement on your files. It
has a GUI so works for me. :)

Have a look at
http://geek.hubkey.com/2008/11/get-valid-sharepoint-file-or-folder.html it has

Subject: Import document's to document library invalid characters

All,

Has anyone come across a tool to show which documents are invalid for a
SharePoint Document list thinking like grep etc. Having to upload 100gb of
information and finding every so often crashes cause i have a & in the name.
