Hi ken

You will be ok running 64 bit front ends and 32 bit SQL. Performance is better
with 64bit blah blah blah but not an issue otherwise

cheers

Josh

Subject: Installation on Windows 2008 x64, require x64 SQL?

Hi Guys,

After some time testing out SharePoint, I am about to install our live server
on a Windows 2008 R2 RC x64 system. I just wanted to know if installing a x64
version of Sharepoint, requires a x64 SQL server? Not a major problem if it
does...just a pain in the ass installing another SQL server for it (although
would end up migrating old DB server to it also I guess). We currently run a
SQL 2005 x86 server, will that suffice for my new x64 MOSS 2007 installation?

Late on the year I would like to migrate the SQL to x64...but I want to do it
when we migrate that whole SQL server, not just for MOSS if I can get away with
it.

Cheers,

Ken Thompson
