Hi Ken, My Sites are individual site collections so they don't inherit changes even if you make them at the root site. You would need to modify the site definition in advance or set the them programmatically after the fact. That being said, you can apply a global theme to your Profile pages because these are all generated from the root site - <mysitedomain/path>/_layouts/settings.aspx.
As for your "back" link, this can be set from the same application page via the 'Portal site connection' link.
