Although I havent a web part using the ListViewByQuery control the code is
quite complete. I believe the control handles the data formatting
automatically, e.g displaying the hyperlink values, lookup values etc.

I've coded cross site listview by using a SPGridview but this requires
manually formatting the data to be correctly display the values.

Q: Why are you looking at coding a cross site list view? You could achieve
the same by using a dataview web part in SharePoint Designer. No code
necessary and hook it up within 10mins.
