Hah! Funny you should ask. I've just been demoing the List Rollup Web part. :)
It's brilliant once you work out how to use it. The docs leave a little to be desired. Basically it creates a custom data source that allows you to rollup any number of different lists into a single view using a master list to get the view info from. Lists can be rolled up from across the entire farm. The only thing it's missing is the ability to style or modify the view from the web part pane but the XSL is there and you can also use SPD (as I did) to achieve what you want. It works by creating a new DVWP which gets added to the page (initially hidden). You can then re-use import/export to other sites.
