Hi Ajay,

I haven't actually tried this yet, but it should work in theory...

I am assuming you are just backing up and restoring a web application? If so if
you can get the backup to restore successfully (should be okay going from older
to newer version) you should not need to run the Sharepoint Config wizard again.

You should be able to just run stsadm -o upgrade -inplace -url http://webappurl
to upgrade only the web application.

Regards,
Mark Rhodes

Subject: Restoring pre SP1 backup on SP2

Hi All,

I have a stsadm -backup from Sharepoint Server which has infrastructure updates
installed.. no SP2 stuff installed on it.

If I restore it on SharePoint Server which is patched SP2, will I need to run
the SharePoint config wizard again new web application which has been restored.

I assume we can restore pre SP2 backup on SP2 box but not vice versa.

Cheers
A
