Ok my bad I have not been able to use the site content and structure to move librarys only sites but this should be achievable using Lapointe's stsadm extensions.
An Example of what I am trying is below: SET SPAdminTool="%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN\stsadm.exe" %SPAdminTool% -o gl-copylist -sourceurl "http://site/_catalogs/masterpage/Forms/View.aspx" -targeturl "http://site/site/" -includeusersecurity -updateversions 2 -versions 4 -retargetlinks It goes ahead with the export but I get the following error: [11/6/2009 3:09:20 PM]: Error: Unknown compression type in a cabinet folder [11/6/2009 3:09:20 PM]: Debug: at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.BuildCabinetFile(String bstrTempDirectory, String bstrCabFileLocation, UInt32 uMaxCabFileSize) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ExportDataFileManager.<>c__DisplayClass2 .<Compress>b__0() [11/6/2009 3:09:20 PM]: FatalError: Failed to create package file. at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ExportDataFileManager.<>c__DisplayClass2 .<Compress>b__0() at Microsoft.SharePoint.Utilities.SecurityContext.RunAsProcess(CodeToRunEle vated secureCode) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ExportDataFileManager.Compress(SPRequest request) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.SPExport.Run() *** Inner exception: Unknown compression type in a cabinet folder at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.BuildCabinetFile(String bstrTempDirectory, String bstrCabFileLocation, UInt32 uMaxCabFileSize) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ExportDataFileManager.<>c__DisplayClass2 .<Compress>b__0() [11/6/2009 3:09:20 PM]: Progress: Export Completed. There are multiple versions and also views setup. I have moved and copied document libraries in the past using the "site content and structure tool" which does preserve the metadata but unfortunately the masterpage galleries don't show up. Is there any way of copying the library somewhere else preserving the metadata and versioning? And yes I have locked down all masterpage galleries so users with full control can't access them from here on in. Regards,
