I am not sure what the difference is between the two types of file as they both are .aspx files, but they have different icons. (FAQ, Travel)
I copied the Travel.aspx to the other site (where FAQ.aspx is ) and when viewing the travel page, the left navigation appears? Check the site navigation settings, make sure you've got "show pages" checked.
