The API calls return a different permission mask if the db is read only. Even the system account then does not get the full mask and the check if the current user is an administrator fails. You cannot export if the DB is read-only. It turns out that setting your source content database to read only prevents the “stsadm –o export” from working properly for some weird reason. I set the source database back to read-write mode, exported a site, and then imported it onto the new server with no issues whatsoever. As a matter of interest, does anyone know why the ‘export’ command would fail if the DB is read only? To export, I’m using: stsadm –o export –url http://oldserver/teamsites/sitename -filename D:\sitename -includeusersecurity -nofilecompression To import, I’m using stsadm –o import –url http://newserver/teamsites/sitename -filename D:\sitename -includeusersecurity -nofilecompression However, when trying to import, I’m getting this: “The file cannot be imported because its parent web /teamsites/sitename/teamsites/sitename does not exist.” I deleted the site “/teamsites/sitename” and recreated it as “/teamsites/sn” and it then says “The file cannot be imported because its parent web /teamsites/sn/teamsites/sitename does not exist.” When I originally tested my scripts a couple of weeks ago, it all worked fine, however it’s now giving me the above error. The “/teamsites/” bit is a managed path, set as a wildcard inclusion (I tried it as an explicit inclusion as well without luck) Does anyone have any ideas?
