Hi Guys, I have too have used the "Move all databases to a different database server <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512725(office.12).aspx#Section 1> " method with great success, especially when going down the WSSv2 > SPF upgrade route.
I have not encounter any issues with it in any of the scenarios that ive used. In regards to SQL performance recommendations take a look at the following whitepaper <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263261(office.12).aspx> (21 pages). We have reviewed this approach offered by MS - Move all databases to a database server that has the same name <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512725(office.12).aspx%23Secti on2> - but would also like to get feedback from anyone else who has attempted. Most importantly would be any additional info with regards to SQL settings, aliases or instance requirements. Thanks in advance.
