Hi Chris, We recently went through this analysis. The outcome was that there are certain considerations which have nothing to do with cost.
- Ownership of org data. - Level of customisation and control of environment. - SharePoint Foundation is free. If we moved to a hosted environment such as Office365 we would have had to sacrifice quite a bit of control and lose many of our current customisations. A lot of what I've found is around calculating licence costs I've found a report that says average cost is $46 per user per month but would like some further information to try and illustrate costs of hosting internally versus going to the cloud.
