You must have missed my reply to myself. I found that a Resource reference had been added to the App XAML, and it wasn't my doing. By a huge diff I found the culprit lines. I removed them and the app started loading and running again. It's still rather frightening that seemingly simple errors can cause utterly incomprehensible and misleading symptoms. I have found this a lot during Silverlight development. I find I have to code like I'm tiptoeing through a minefield, one slip and you can loose a day of work trying to back things out or find what you've stuffed to hell. Greg
