Guys just my 2 cents...

This is a very big issue that Scott has ignited, and he was right to bring it
out into the light.

I'm in disagreement with Scott on a lot of what he has to say regarding
Silverlight and its' future. I personally believe that it has a very long and
bright future ahead of itself, and the same goes for WPF and its closely
related relative WPF Surface
(http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/13/microsoft-principal-researcher-bill-buxton-surface-will-be-in-h/).

BUT I agree with Scott on HTML5. MS are going to push this very hard, from a
tooling to a community and from a product perspective.

Where I work, Cynergy, we have 3 core businesses now

1 - Flash/Flex
2- Silverlight/WPF/Surface/WP7
3 - Others (iOS/Android/ChromeOS/HTML5)

What's happened in the last 3 months is we have really started seeing HTML5
split itself into it's own group, and is honestly turning into a competitor for
RIA mindshare.

I say keep speaking your mind Scott, in my neck of the world what you've said
hasn't distracted clients from Silverlight at all. Sooner or later we're all
going to have to sell the Silverlight story over the HTML5 story to clients and
our bosses.. You may find out one day that you'll be bookmarking/refering to
scott's post during these meetings :)

I'm long past worried about employment prospects in Microsoft or this industry
:) I did what and whilst some display hatred for it, others inside Microsoft
have been sending me positive emails stating in a nutshell it was about time
someone spoke out. Make no mistake, there are a lot of people internally
smiling at this whole thing
