Hi Brian, So let me get your configuration right:
* App Tier + TSWA + spare instance of SQL2008 on a Win2003 VM * SQL 2008 DB instance on an x64 Win2008 box * SQL 2008 Reporting Services on a separate x64 Win2008 box What version of TFS have you got installed? TFS2008 SP1 I'm assuming - since that is required for SQL2008 compatibility What version of TSWA have you got installed? I suspect by having the reporting services on another server, you're running into the 'double-hop' issue<http://blogs.msdn.com/nunos/archive/2004/03/12/88468.aspx>. The most common configuration is App Tier + TSWA + Reporting Services all on the same box. I think it is supported to put reporting services on the data tier (in TFS2008) - but I can't find the docco on it. What errors specifically are you getting? What happens when you browse to http://report_server/Reports/ directly from a web browser on clients ABCD? Namely, the Reports tab in TSWA and Team Explorer. Here’s a description of the behaviour. 1) user A (me) can access the Reports tab within Team Explorer (no red X), user B, C, D can’t – from within virtual environment, not joined to the domain. 2) user A cannot access the Reports tab within TSWA, user B, C, D can’t either, from within the domain. The user A, B, C, D are all local admins, all have been given administrative access to the reports server and have access to the database. User A’s access to the Reports tab, from within Team Explorer, occasionally fails. All users has now been added to TS as administrators – yet it still doesn’t resolve the problem. They initially had contributor and reporting access on TS. I’ve even gone in to the Report site and given everybody admin access as well. Still doesn’t resolve it either. I’m nearly at the point of stabbing something/body with a blunt object – am starting to think we may have AD issues. This is further enhanced by some odd occurrences which has left my account locked out of AD. The environment TS sits on is a multi server solution – App tier and TSWA sits on a Win2003, virtualised server (VMWare I believe), Database sits on a 64-bit, Win2008 server, same goes for Reporting server. When I run the best practises advisor proggie on the App tier I’m told that some features aren’t installed (which they are) – those are SSIS and Full Text on SQL Server. The App Tier does also have a SQL 2008 instance on it (for other reasons – only used for development and some service lookups) and this doesn’t have SSIS or Full Text enabled – but TS doen’t utilise this instance at all. The virtualised environments (which contains sharepoint, dev tools etc) are Win2003 32-bit virtual pc setups. I wonder why I can access reports from within the virtualised environment but not from TSWA? Any suggestions?
