Sure thing William.

The 2010 product includes first class traceability through link types which is
a big step forward in CMMI efforts. The CMMI template itself was changed to
support link types, and a few new reports were introduced... but the basics of
the template remain the same in 2010. Now, having said that, the template
itself won't get you any further along towards level 4, but the links and
reports will definitely help with the traceability and auditability
requirements.

Ed and Grant, thank you for your responses. If additional information is made
available, I would very much appreciate if it was forwarded on.

Thanks so much -

Here is my original response with the image snipped.

If I recall correctly, the MSF for CMMI v5.0 template still helps companies
achieve CMMI Level 3. From what I can tell by looking at the changes between
v4.2 and v5.0, it looks like most of the changes were really put in place to
take advantage of the new link types and to support test case management. I
will see if I can find out more information from the product group to see if
there any additional changes.

Here is a look at the CMMI work item types and how they would be linked
together: <snipped>

I was able to talk to Aaron on the product team who deals with the process
templates and here is his response:

Nope, you've got it right. Most of the changes centered around link types and
TCM. Beyond that, we did some usability improvements to the layout of the
forms, and introduced a few new reports. :)

Hopefully the original message will come through with the supporting imagine.
I'm not sure who moderates this list.

I actually have a response to this thread that's waiting for moderation since I

Subject: TFS 2010 CMMI Level 3 or 4

Does anyone know if TFS 2010 made any improvements or removed features on the
CMMI Process Templates? I work for a company that requires a level 3, possibly
moving to level 4 CMMI standards. I am lobbying on implementing TFS 2010
versus 2008, but I need to determine if 2010 made any changes with the
template. Any information about this would be VERY MUCH appreciated.

Thank you,
Oscar
