solution appears to uninstall VS2010 and then reinstall it.

Ok but then you have to re-install any third party controls (Infragistics,
Syncfusion, Telerik or whatever you have).

Sounds like a lot of pain for the addition of a single context menu option.

I did see a page that mentioned installing "vs 2010 Pro Power Tools"
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2925319/vs2010-add-in-custom-menu-item-in
-files-of-solution-explorer

But as you pointed out you might get a whole lot more than you bargained for
and it might or might not provide the fix you are looking for.

There must be an easier way surely?

Regards Peter.

Hi Peter,

I too suffer from this problem. The only solution that seemed to work was
to install a VS2010 extension that gave me the option (sorry, can't remember
which), plus a lot of other features I didn't want and couldn't turn off. I
don't like having extensions and add-ins clogging my VS experience and this
one was particularly intrusive so I ended up just having regular Windows
shortcuts to the projects I work on.

Carl.

Subject: Opening Blend 4 from Visual Studio

I would like to edit my xaml files in Blend 4 from within VS2010.

One would normally right click one's xaml file and select "Open in
Expression Blend"

However I do not get that context menu option.

Looking at http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=199772212592

There should be a registry key entry at

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Expression\Blend\VS]

With a string value for BlendLaunchPath set to the correct path.

I used RegEdit and found that it was set to "C:\Program Files
(x86)\Microsoft Expression\Blend 4\Blend.exe"

Which is correct.

However the context menu option for expression blend does not appear when
right clicking on a xaml file in VS2010.

Anything else one can try?
