It seems likely that WinRT will replace Win32.

I’ve seen nothing to indicate WPF or SL will become legacy with Windows 8.
Based on what we’ve been told so far WPF, SL and .NET will be the foundation of
“desktop” applications in Windows 8. I’d also argue that the adoption rate of
WPF/SL is likely still increasing.

In terms of unifying the lists I think it would make more sense to have a XAML
(WPF, SL, WinRT flavours) list separate from WinRT for the same reason Carl
suggests keeping .NET separate.

I think unifying the WPF and SL groups will be valid once Win8 gains some
market traction.

When I think of the types of queries people post to these groups, I think it’s
probably better to leave .NET in its own group. Working with XAML isn’t
straightforward and each control’s foibles tend to generate lots of discussion.
Diluting that with .NET queries is probably more of a distraction than a help.

My 2 cents.

Howdy,

Given the architectural changes in Windows, I am canvasing what we should be
doing with a number of these lists. WinRT is the new replacement for Win32
moving forward. WPF an SL become marginalised/legacy with XAML on WinRT being
the new way forward.

So, any thoughts on new list structures and so on to inflect the new/pending
reality?

My thinking is that:

* ozdotnet, ozwpf and ozsilverlight would end up being legacy toward the
release of Win8.
* ozwinrt (registered it last night) would be a point of unifying the
audiences from the above three lists.

Thoughts, comments?

David.
