I'd open a bug at https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=Equinox&component=p2against the director. -u org.eclipse.sdk.ide -i org.eclipse.sdk.ide is the only way currently to use the director to upgrade an install. It would be nice if it didn't trash the install based on the repo state (maybe a no-op, or maybe a true uninstall/install of the same IU)
