Map => Load Pointfile

This will show you a red line tracing from somewhere "inside" the map to
somewhere "outside" the map. The leak is along this line somewhere. Try
realigning the elevator to the grid, (it might be a little bit off) and
make sure you've sealed it appropriately at the lip.

I know it's the case with fade-distances, and there may also be something 
similar with LODs - try lowering your graphics settings?

Having everything as high as possible will disable various 
performance-enhancing things in Portal 2, I vaguely recall.
