Hi Joe, Thanks for publishing your Medium essay reminding us that algorithms, as pervasive as they are now, predate the digital world and have had consequential ripple effects. I'm bcc'ing the essay link to others. Perhaps the original underlying adverse human algorithm is the concept of the 'zero sum game' positing that one tribe must win at the expense of another tribe (1-1=0) ? IMHO this win/lose thinking, though rooted in primal natural scarcity, had the effect of being amplified to justify colonialism and expropriation, setting the pattern for many societies even today.
