Are there any public performance numbers on Paxos implementations? A number of papers state or at least imply that Paxos isn't efficient enough for use without leases. I'm guessing that a simple Paxos can handle a few thousand elections per second on a fast LAN (~.2 ms packet times and Paxos's critical path is the cost of 2-3 packet writes), does anyone have experiences with Paxos that would confirm/deny that?
The only public Paxos implementations I can find are either very simplistic or unmaintained (or both), anyone have pointers? Is it even feasible to implement Paxos correctly/reliably? There seems to be some contention on that. -Jack _______________________________________________ p2p-hackers mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zooko.com/mailman/listinfo/p2p-hackers
