Beside the fact that three years were not enough to tackle every
possible problem  ;-), the thesis was focusing on backup in mobile ad hoc
networks, where it is reasonable to assume that no NAT is involved.  In
fact, we had in mind single-hop communications (to avoid sending backups
to physically remote locations), which is obviously NAT-free.
