Hello, I am pleased to announce the first public release of libchop, a C library and tool set aimed as a building block for distributed data storage and data backup applications.
The homepage is located at: http://www.nongnu.org/libchop/ Here are the compressed sources: http://dl.sv.nongnu.org/releases/libchop/libchop-0.2.tar.gz (996KB) Here are the GPG detached signatures: http://dl.sv.nongnu.org/releases/libchop/libchop-0.2.tar.gz.sig Here are the MD5 and SHA1 checksums: c93ce753e1bace4f73f2c5cf0a89f2a3 libchop-0.2.tar.gz 2c83dbd6d78bfb277fbca666f4500b480a8c01be libchop-0.2.tar.gz This release was bootstrapped with the following tools: Autoconf 2.65 Automake 1.11.1 Libtool 2.2.6b Gnulib v0.0-3448-g6078aa4 Libchop implements storage techniques such as content-based addressing, content hash keys, Merkle trees, similarity detection, and lossless compression. It makes it easy to combine them in different ways. The ‘chop-archiver’ tool provides access to these features from the command line; along with ‘chop-block-server’, it allows for remote data storage. Example uses of these tools are given in the manual. Feedback welcome! Thanks, Ludo’.
