The idea that people don't care about privacy/security/anonymity/et c. is a
Mark Zuckerberg idea, not a real idea.

Of course, people might not care in the way that geeks do --- but we should
expect that. Normal people are smarter than us ("make complete sense when
you understand the context in which they operate").
