I think you're right, I appear to have gotten the two hash tables mixed up.

Did you happen to test with such a patch to confirm it works as expected?

I changed finalized_nodes to confirmed_nodes and confirmed processing.
When it became 1 remainder node by this correction, I was able to commit suicide.
I think that there is not a problem by this correction.
