-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2011-4430 2011-03-30 19:26:34 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : libguestfs Product : Fedora 14 Version : 1.8.4 Release : 1.fc14 URL : http://libguestfs.org/ Summary : Access and modify virtual machine disk images Description : Libguestfs is a library for accessing and modifying guest disk images. Amongst the things this is good for: making batch configuration changes to guests, getting disk used/free statistics (see also: virt-df), migrating between virtualization systems (see also: virt-p2v), performing partial backups, performing partial guest clones, cloning guests and changing registry/UUID/hostname info, and much else besides. Libguestfs uses Linux kernel and qemu code, and can access any type of guest filesystem that Linux and qemu can, including but not limited to: ext2/3/4, btrfs, FAT and NTFS, LVM, many different disk partition schemes, qcow, qcow2, vmdk. Libguestfs provides ways to enumerate guest storage (eg. partitions, LVs, what filesystem is in each LV, etc.). It can also run commands in the context of the guest. Libguestfs is a library that can be linked with C and C++ management programs. See also the 'guestfish' package for shell scripting and command line access, and 'libguestfs-mount' for mounting guest filesystems on the host using FUSE. For Perl bindings, see 'perl-Sys-Guestfs'. For OCaml bindings, see 'ocaml-libguestfs-devel'. For Python bindings, see 'python-libguestfs'. For Ruby bindings, see 'ruby-libguestfs'. For Java bindings, see 'libguestfs-java-devel'. For PHP bindings, see 'php-libguestfs'. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: - New stable branch version 1.8.4. - Include 'attr' module. virt-rescue will finally contain the getfattr and setfattr programs. - Fixes: 576879. - Fixes to guestfs_kill_subprocess API. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ChangeLog: * Tue Mar 29 2011 Richard Jones <[email protected]> - 1:1.8.4-1 - New upstream stable branch version 1.8.4. - Include 'acl' as BR (required for getfacl, setfacl programs in virt-rescue). * Mon Mar 28 2011 Richard Jones <[email protected]> - 1:1.8.3-2.fc14 - Include 'attr' as BR (required for getfattr, setfattr programs in virt-rescue). * Mon Mar 21 2011 Richard Jones <[email protected]> - 1:1.8.3-1.fc14 - New upstream stable branch version 1.8.3. - Fixes: 576879. - Fixes to guestfs_kill_subprocess API. * Tue Mar 8 2011 Richard Jones <[email protected]> - 1:1.8.2-1.fc14 - New upstream stable branch version 1.8.2. - Fixes: 682979, 668574. - Java bindings are usable in this release. - Fixes compatibility with qemu-img >= 0.14. - Fixes memory use-after-free when adding libvirt domains by name. * Mon Jan 10 2011 Richard Jones <[email protected]> - 1:1.8.1-1.fc14 - New upstream stable branch version 1.8.1. - Fixes: 668112, 617440, 666577, 666578, 666579. * Sun Dec 19 2010 Richard Jones <[email protected]> - 1:1.8.0-1.fc14 - New upstream stable branch version 1.8.0. - This version requires febootstrap 3.x. - Remove upstream patch. - Rebase FUSE test patch. - BR db4-utils, cpio. - Requires db4-utils for core inspection API. - Rename Perl bindings to perl-Sys-Guestfs for consistency with other Perl modules (RHBZ#652587). - guestfish no longer requires pod2text. - guestfish depends on less, man, vi. - guestmount no longer requires virt-inspector. - Split libguestfs-tools into libguestfs-tools-c, libguestfs-tools.
