-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2011-11539 2011-08-26 18:29:01 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : traceroute Product : Fedora 14 Version : 2.0.18 Release : 1.fc14 URL : http://traceroute.sourceforge.net Summary : Traces the route taken by packets over an IPv4/IPv6 network Description : The traceroute utility displays the route used by IP packets on their way to a specified network (or Internet) host. Traceroute displays the IP number and host name (if possible) of the machines along the route taken by the packets. Traceroute is used as a network debugging tool. If you're having network connectivity problems, traceroute will show you where the trouble is coming from along the route. Install traceroute if you need a tool for diagnosing network connectivity problems. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: Update to 2.0.18 Now, if kernel supports it, unprivileged users may perform ICMP tracerouting without any special rights of the executable (neither setuid bits nor cap_net_raw settings). It is allowed if any group of a user matches sysctl range of "net/ipv4/ping_group_range" (modifiable by sysadmins). Current kernels (2.6.40 or 3.0) implement it for IPv4 only. See traceroute(8) for more info. Fix determination of system "ecn" settings for tcp tracerouting (which was changed since the kernel 2.6.31). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ChangeLog: * Wed Aug 24 2011 Dmitry Butskoy <[email protected]> - 3:2.0.18-1 - update to 2.0.18 (make possible to use unprivileged icmp echo sockets) * Wed Feb 9 2011 Fedora Release Engineering <[email protected]> - 3:2.0.17-2 - Rebuilt for https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_15_Mass_Rebuild * Tue Dec 14 2010 Dmitry Butskoy <[email protected]> - 3:2.0.17-1 - update to 2.0.17 (makes possible to use Linux capabilities) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This update can be installed with the "yum" update program.
