-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2012-17301 2012-10-31 02:15:18 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : smem Product : Fedora 17 Version : 1.2 Release : 1.fc17 URL : http://www.selenic.com/smem/ Summary : Report application memory usage in a meaningful way Description : smem is a tool that can give numerous reports on memory usage on Linux systems. Unlike existing tools, smem can report proportional set size (PSS), which is a more meaningful representation of the amount of memory used by libraries and applications in a virtual memory system. Because large portions of physical memory are typically shared among multiple applications, the standard measure of memory usage known as resident set size (RSS) will significantly overestimate memory usage. PSS instead measures each application's "fair share" of each shared area to give a realistic measure. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: New version 1.2 with several bugfixes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ChangeLog: * Mon Oct 29 2012 Matthew Miller <[email protected]> - 1.2-1 - 1.2; no upstream tarball, but tagged in the hg repo. - resolves bz #757908 (-m and -u fail as non-root) - resolves bz #864504 (failure in presense of unknown uids) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- References: [ 1 ] Bug #757908 - --mappings and --users fails for unprivileged user https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=757908 [ 2 ] Bug #864504 - smem falls over in the presence of unknown UIDs, which is a problem when using LXC. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=864504 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This update can be installed with the "yum" update program.
