-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2013-12979 2013-07-14 23:25:47 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : squashfs-tools Product : Fedora 18 Version : 4.3 Release : 0.18.gitaae0aff4.fc18 URL : http://squashfs.sourceforge.net/ Summary : Utility for the creation of squashfs filesystems Description : Squashfs is a highly compressed read-only filesystem for Linux. This package contains the utilities for manipulating squashfs filesystems. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: Despite being a pre-release, I believe this version is better than 4.2. In particular there is a lot more checking to make sure bad data won't lead to a compromise. The only place where you might need to tweak something is if you are using exclude or sort lists with " or \ in file names. These are now treated specially. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ChangeLog: * Sun Jul 14 2013 Bruno Wolff III <[email protected]> - 4.3-0.18.gitaae0aff4 - Latest pre 4.3 stable snapshot - Improvements in getting status info while running unsquashfs - Includes fix for mksquashfs hangs - Switch to get pre-release updates from the stable branch at kernel.org - Fix for a rare race condition - queue fragment and empty file buffers directly to main thread - Includes upstream bugfix introduced with the sequential queue change - Sequential queue change - SIGQUIT now displays the file being squashed - Pick up some more error handling improvements - Move mksquashfs to /usr/sbin, as per UsrMove. - Add mksquashfs.1 and unsquashfs.1 manpages from Debian. - Better error handling when space runs out - New option to display compression options used - Some error message improvements - More checks for bad data - Quote and backslash parsing for lexical analyzer - A few memory leak fixes - Additional checks for handling bad data - Better checking of data in psuedo files - Better checking of data in sort, extract and exclude files - Pick up a few more changes to better handle bad data - This update includes a bit of internal code infrastructure changes - There are lots of fixes to better handle bad data - The final release is (was) expected sometime in December (2012) - Until the release only the README doc file is available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This update can be installed with the "yum" update program.
