-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2013-18504 2013-10-08 10:18:05 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : systemd Product : Fedora 19 Version : 204 Release : 16.fc19 URL : http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd Summary : A System and Service Manager Description : systemd is a system and service manager for Linux, compatible with SysV and LSB init scripts. systemd provides aggressive parallelization capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting services, offers on-demand starting of daemons, keeps track of processes using Linux cgroups, supports snapshotting and restoring of the system state, maintains mount and automount points and implements an elaborate transactional dependency-based service control logic. It can work as a drop-in replacement for sysvinit. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: This update backports many patches from upstream. There are some user-visible changes: - sysctl order has been reversed, so that alphabetically later names override earlier ones, which was how things behaved before, and how they behave in later versions, and what people are expecting. One change that wasn't backported is that /etc/sysctl.conf is still read. - systemd-fsck@, systemd-tmpfiles-setup-dev are now RemainAfterExit=yes, which means that they should not get spuriously restarted. - systemd-logind now checks if enough free swap is present in /proc/swaps before advertising hibernation. - $SHELL is always set in units which have User= set. - network filesystems are ordered before remote-fs.target not local-fs.target which should help with shutdown issues. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ChangeLog: * Sun Oct 6 2013 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek <[email protected]> 204-16 - Backport a bunch of fixes from upstream (#1010697, #1007059, #1007150). * Wed Sep 18 2013 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek <[email protected]> 204-15 - Fix policykit authentication (#1006680). * Tue Sep 17 2013 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek <[email protected]> 204-14 - Backport the hardware database (#989103). - Backport two small patches. * Fri Sep 6 2013 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek <[email protected]> 204-13 - Backport a bunch of fixes (#995575 and others). * Fri Sep 6 2013 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek <[email protected]> 204-12 - Add ownership of a few directories that we create (#894202). * Thu Sep 5 2013 Harald Hoyer <[email protected]> 204-11 - bump release - always call kmod, even when a driver is bound to the device Resolves: rhbz#1004456 * Fri Aug 16 2013 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek <[email protected]> - 204-11 - Filter out provides for private python modules. * Sun Aug 11 2013 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek <[email protected]> - 204-10 - New systemd-python3 package (#976427). * Mon Jun 24 2013 Michal Schmidt <[email protected]> 204-9 - Rename nm_dispatcher to NetworkManager-dispatcher in default preset (#977433) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- References: [ 1 ] Bug #1010697 - why does it do this stuff at this time? https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1010697 [ 2 ] Bug #1007059 - systemd-logind should make sure 'CanHibernate' is false if not enough swap space for all of RAM https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1007059 [ 3 ] Bug #1007150 - sysctl processing by systemd-sysctl does not allow parameters override https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1007150 [ 4 ] Bug #999061 - NFS mounts get added to local-fs.target which causes a dependency cycle and a hang on shutdown https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=999061 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This update can be installed with the "yum" update program.
