I am successfully building big software like qt-creator but also qbs itself and my own projects with it. So I gave it a fair amount of runtime testing. About running --detect in post install... Not sure if that is a good idea... It will detect a ton of stuff, but will leave you without an default if you have more than one compiler installed. So I think it might be better to get the user run it for him. Then he gets the feedback about the default from qbs.
