It is notable that Debian does not, and Ubuntu stopped shipping a bitcoin package a while ago. Upstream has a new plan to address the needs of the leading deb and rpm distros that significantly reduces security risk for both the Linux distributions and the users. I will be bring the reasons to FESCo as this is not a normal situation after the new plan has been implemented in code.
