I would consider it a hard requirement. The reason it isn't documented is because the problem was discovered after the last release. It has been fixed in Git and will no longer be a problem when the next version is released. I've got Fedora 23 in a virtual machine, so I will test out the package hopefully sometime this weekend to confirm that everything works correctly.
