In addition to my previous comment:

It looks like f-r does checks for binary eggs in the sources, as you can see in
it's output above…  If it would be a requirement to even remove the .egg-info
metadata, why does it explicitly say '*binary* eggs'?

Even the common example spec-file [1] doesn't say it needs to be removed.
