I figured out how to tell it about /usr/bin/python[23] executables directly, and they now build properly on rawhide in mock. There have been 97 commits to the upstream, many of which are bug and build fixes, since the 0.6.1 release in December 2017. I could if preferred batch them into a single patch and apply that after the 0.6.1 tarball.
