I did not spend much time trying to do that and figure out about the version
bump so far.
As I mentioned in comment #0, my proposal is to solve the package split first
by having it exactly as it was on mesa-demos as a reference starting point and
then solve the version bump and downstream patch cleanup in a followup commit.
