Or better -- they shouldn't install these files (except for manpages) at all and let distributions handle it. I think it's worth it. The easier way would be to remove those files in %{buildroot} in install them as I suggested. Or move them to %{buildroot}%{_datadir}%{name}-%{version}-%{release} and mark as %doc. Your choice :) Whatever you choose, this should be fixed upstream.
