Dear all,

I am using owncloud server on a openSUSE 13.1 machine, packages are
installed from

download.opensuse.org/repositories/isv:/ownCloud:/community

I just spent half an hour looking for a problem while setting up
calendar and address books on a new machine for one of my users. I
knew my credentials should work, but I only got errors.

After aforesaid half hour I found the problem:

Apparently there had been a newer minor version of owncloud (8.0.2),
which has been installed by the unattended upgrades. And also
apparently one of my users clicked the 'Click to upgrade' notice that
appears instead of the login screen and started the upgrade.

So, without me as admin noticing, the newer version got installed, and
the apps for calendars and address books were deleted. Or deactivated
or whatever. And thus my login errors, as the functionality just was
not available.

Question:
Is it possible to install both of these apps in a way, that a simple
minor version does not require manual intervention to
reinstall/reactivate these apps?

And: Why does a normal user get to start an upgrade?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but due to the list not being
public I could not search it. And I did not find any answer to my
question.

Regards,
Johannes

P.S.: Why exactly is this list not available publicly? And archived at
gmane?
