Hello Packer Community,
The Packer team is excited to announce the release of Packer 1.8.2. This release contains the latest version of the go-getter/v2 library v2.1.0, which addresses the vulnerabilities listed in HCSEC-2022-13 <https://discuss.hashicorp.com/t/hcsec-2022-13-multiple-vulnerabilities-in-go-getter-library/39930>. The changes within the updated go-getter library can be breaking for some plugins. We ask that you test your Packer templates against the latest release in a non-production environment before upgrading. A list of updated plugins affected by the go-getter changes, along with a full list of changes, can be found in the Packer CHANGELOG <https://github.com/hashicorp/packer/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#182-june-21-2022> . *Notable Improvements:* - The `pause_after` configuration argument is now supported by the Powershell provisioner. - HCP Packer data sources will now fail for revoked iterations to prevent building non-compliant images. *Notable Fixes:* - The `env` configuration argument released in v1.8.0 is now supported by all remote shell provisioners. - The preinst and postrm user scripts, including the service configuration directives, have been removed from the Packer Linux installations packages, as Packer does not require a service user in order to run. As always thank you for your continued support and contributions.
