As a follow-up to the blog post on the upcoming removal of bundled plugins in Packer, we have an open GitHub issue detailing a few proposals for improving plugin loading and manual installation workflows for external plugins. In issue 12668 <https://github.com/hashicorp/packer/issues/12668>, we are sharing options we are leaning toward for managing plugins and calling for community feedback. This work is a first step in a series of improvements discussed amongst the Packer team to resolve the confusion related to external plugin use in Packer. We are interested in hearing your thoughts on the proposals within the issue. Any new ideas or details on your use case are welcome!
