Hi All,

So after losing our old PF server a while back, I’ve finally gotten around to
getting it back up and running. What I’m trying to find again is the relatively
simple way to temporarily register a device (for say a few hours).

The network I operate is at a remote site, and while we have wifi available for
our business operations and for our resident staff to use in the off hours, we
don’t normally provide it to the general public.

I have PF setup to do a captive portal, which authenticates against Active
Directory via LDAP. That’s all working swimmingly. However, there are
occasionally exceptions where we want to give access to someone, without
necessarily adding them to AD. (Forest Service ranger coming through, visiting
school principal, someone who needs to make a mortgage payment, etc…).

I remember in the older version of PF, from the admin interface, I could set
the Role, and then set it to time out after N hours/days/weeks. When looking at
that now, I can see the “unregistration” box, which lets me pick something off
a calendar, but doesn’t give me the convenient “3 hours from now” or whatever.

Even if I had the drop-down with the 5 choices or whatever from the role
definition, that would be ok, but still not as nice as being able to set an
arbitrary amount of time from now.

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hans
