At first attempt I failed on the same task, but then found that portals are working good if I leave out the portal configuration on my Cisco switch.

It includes a question about the advantages and disadvantages of using a portal configuration using Web Auth or just the packetfence dhcp, dns.

I'd be interested in other opinions to get some more insight into that question.
