Hello,

the PacketFence (not Packet Force) template for the Huawei AC6605 controller
does not support Web authentication, only 802.1x and MAC auth, as you can
see in the table here
http://www.packetfence.org/about/supported_switches_and_aps.html

Best regards,

Christos Ntokos

authentication on Huawei WAC

Hello,

Packet Force 14.0 integrates the packet Force Huawei AC6605 template
associated with Huawei AirEngine 9700S-S (V200R023C00);

After connecting to the wireless network on the Windows client and mobile
phone, the registered VLAN is assigned a DHCP IP address. However, after
accessing the user authentication process on the webpage, the user cannot
find the authorized VLAN DHCP assigned IP address. The client still obtains
the registered VLAN DHCP assigned IP address after issuing the commands
ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew; The packfence system audit log shows
that the client is not registered, and clicking on the web interface again
also proves that the process cannot obtain authorization for Vlan to
allocate DHCP IP

However, after disabling the computer client and then enabling the wireless
network card to obtain authorization for VLAN to allocate DHCP IP, the
system displays that the user registration was successful; Turn off and then
enable WLAN on the mobile end to obtain authorized VLAN IP allocation The
system audit log shows that the client registration was successful.

Subject: [PacketFence-users] Web auth for WLAN guests with email/SMS
authentication on Huawei WAC

Hello,

I am currently testing Packetfence to provide WiFi access to guests using
capture portal/web auth. The authentication method would be a PIN via email
or SMS.

Our equipment is a Huawei AirEngine 9700-M Wireless Access Controller
working with Huawei APs in tunnel mode. The Huawei WAC does the VLAN
assignment for the guest SSID (no dynamic VLAN assignment needed) and also
provides the DHCP service to clients.

I see that in Packetfence there is no switch template for Web Auth for a
Huawei WAC, is there another template that I could utilize with some
customization?

Also, I read the guide for unsupported equipment
(https://www.packetfence.org/doc/PacketFence_Network_Devices_Configuration_G
uide.html#_unsupported_equipment), it seems that Packetfence requires a
network architecture where either the DHCP service is provided by
Packetfence or a copy of the DHCP service is sent to Packetfence. Is that a
requirement for my scenario? I should note that it is possible in the Huawei
controller to include the client MAC address (and many more paramenters if
needed) in the redirection URL. Wouldn't that be enough for packetfence to
have knowledge of a client request?

Thank in advance,

Christos Ntokos
