I was under the impression that this was already documented in our guides but maybe not. * Install snort's rpm (from snort.org) * Download rules (we are integrated best with emerging trends rules, our installer event asks to download them for you, otherwise you might need to change snort_rules=... in conf/violations.conf) * Change conf/pf.conf (set detection=enabled under [trapping]) * Restart packetfence Problems with snort (if any) will be logged into /var/log/messages, if it doesn't start check there.
