HI Team,

in the configuration docu for the switches.conf all switches are listest
with their ip address like [192.168.3.1].
In the Web GUI this Information is also listed in the node view.

We have many switches and the Admins from the User Help Desk are not confirm
to know which ip addres has
any switch. So i have thought, why not using the FQD name instead the ip
address.

So i have take a look in the database structur for the table node. I have
seen that for the switch is used a varchar(17) field.
What we are doing in the future, when we use ipv6?

I recomendet to use the FQD name instead the ip or a seperate table for the
switches, with ip and fqd name.

Is it not simple possible to alter the switch field in the node table to
varchar(255) and using the fqd name????

Thanks Andi
