I am trying to get packetfence working with a Foundry FES4802 switch (which
the documentation states that it will work) I go through the setup
instructions in the documentation and I does not switch VLANs properly.
I have tried both port security traps and link up/link down traps.
What is happening is when I plug in an unregistered client in to the switch
the switch detects that it an unregistered mac address, and tries to put the
client into the registration VLAN (in my case VLAN 2), while it is doing
this packetfence takes the port out of the VLAN I had it set to (VLAN4) and
it ends up in the default vlan (VLAN 4095). After that happen packetfence
sends the command or SNMP trap to the switch to change the VLAN on the port
to the registration VLAN, while packetfence thinks it was successful the
VLAN on the switch port does not change out of the default VLAN.
The weird part is that when I run the command on the packetfence box to
change the port from VLAN 4 to VLAN 2 it works. The command I am running
is"/usr/local/pf/bin/pfcmd_vlan -setVlan -switch 192.168.1.10 -ifIndex 8
vlan 2".
When I set the switch port to the default VLAN 4095 and try to change it
using the same command it fails jut like in the previous situation.
Why is the switch and packetfence behaving like this and how can I fix it?
Thanks
