Here's what we've come up with. MaxClients will be equal to: (total ram - (total ram x 0.25 + 300)) / 50 with a hard limit of 256. StartServers will be equal to: MaxClients / 2 MinSpareServers will be equal to: MaxClients / 4 We did the math and it produces sensible values for systems of 2Gb (our minimum requirement), 4Gb, 8Gb, 16Gb and 24Gb.
