It's the default windows supplicant ...

I understand that the setting could be in FR, but where?  I have been 
scrounging through the config but can't seem to locate it.

No.  The EAP type is usually sent by the supplicant or determined in RADIUS.

Are you using the windows supplicant or you are using a "proprietary" 
supplicant?
