But they need network access to create the RADIUS account that they need to register their computer with (our own registration is hanging off the back of another system in the wider University). The skip feature would enable us to allow the students unregistered network access for a limited period so that they can create their RADIUS accounts. The other alternative may be the "trapping .passthrough = proxy" setting, but I think it falls foul of "Note that any link to an external resource on the target server will not be properly rewritten."
