The first connection to ldap is via a browse user that does a search for the uid of the user. This returns the full dn of the user which is used during the second connection to validate the password and, I believe, retrieve other account attributes. I believe freeRadius handles this already as it works fine for logging into our VPN concentrator. I merely mention it because other software doesn't handle this properly and it becomes an issue. - -- - --------------------------- Jason 'XenoPhage' Frisvold [email protected] - --------------------------- "Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology.\" - - Niven's Inverse of Clarke's Third Law -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.13 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iEYEARECAAYFAlF2jzoACgkQO80o6DJ8UvmkJQCfcIaBONzk+D3sy0TwNTgYTKCp BDcAnilk5vB3ixltX2tSJBlD9pZhW0E+ =QhrS -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Try New Relic Now & We'll Send You this Cool Shirt New Relic is the only SaaS-based application performance monitoring service that delivers powerful full stack analytics.
